What better way is there to take time out from a busy schedule than to enjoy an adrenalin-packed activity break in Mid Wales.
With two National Parks, Snowdonia and the Brecon Beacons, as well as a number of mountain lakes and rivers, visitors will discover a number of outdoor activities to partake in.
“Wet” your appetite for water-based activities at Canolfan Tryweryn, situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park at Frongoch near Bala. Here, enthusiasts can experience the thrill of whitewater rafting on the steep and rocky mountain river. And, because the Tryweryn is a dam controlled river, very often water is flowing when other rivers are dry. Visitors will also find extensive riverside trails around the Centre, and picnic areas to enjoy the splendour of the surroundings.
Or if you’re looking for something a little more serene, head to Bala Adventure and Watersports Centre, and enjoy a number of activities on Llyn Tegid, the largest natural lake in Wales. The lake is surrounded by magnificent views, so why not take time to appreciate the scenery whilst kayaking or sailing.
Looking for more laid-back approach? Then step onto dry land and head for the Brecon Beacons. The best way to explore the steep slopes and beautiful views is from horseback. At Cantref Riding Centre in Brecon, chose to meander along the foothills of the Beacons, or perhaps try a more adventurous all-day hack deep into the countryside. On your return why not stay a while at the centre and try out Europe’s longest Sledge ride. At over 100 meters long, the ride is sure to be a spectacular and breathtaking experience for the whole family.
The Brecon Beacons is also where you’ll find Llangorse Multi Activity Centre - a fantastic centre for activities with a difference! To experience the enjoyment of sailing through the air for distances of over 100m, try SkyTrek. As you pass through the trees and travel over fields take in the panoramic views across the lake, with the beautiful backdrop of the Brecon Beacons behind. The Centre also offers a range of other outdoor and indoor activities including Dingle Scrambling, indoor climbing, abseiling, bouldering and high wire.
