A taste of Mid Wales

Local welsh produce is a feature on many restaurant and café menus in mid Wales. Experience these authentic culinary delights by dining in one of the many award-winning eating houses or by visiting one of many food fairs and festivals throughout the region.

The internationally famous town of books in Hay on Wye hosts its own Food Festival this June. This hugely popular food festival will showcase over 40 local food producers, all of whom will be exhibiting their wares. During the festival there will be plenty of local food to taste on site and furthermore, entry is entirely free.

If you’re passionate about food, then another such festival is the Abergavenny Food Festival held in September. The full special events programme has yet to be announced, although last years event featured over a hundred market stalls, demonstrations, tutored tasting as well as music and street performers.

Visit the Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron in the stunning Cardigan Bay coast, where the annual Cardigan Bay Seafood Festival takes place. The festival celebrates Cardigan Bay's wealth of seafood and features cooking demonstration by local chefs as well as a range of entertainment.

This year, the town is also celebrating its bicentenary, so there will be a number of exciting events taking place throughout the year.

Wherever your journey takes you, you will be guaranteed to come across one of the many popular Farmers Markets which take place throughout towns in Mid Wales. These markets are an excellent opportunity to meet with local farmers and producers and taste the very best produce from the region.
